How often do Orthodox refer to philosophers
Look at Aquinas' Summa and you will see that every other page almost mentions Aristotle. The look at dozens of homilies of Chrysostom or look through the entire Philokalia (all three volumes) and tell me how many times Aristotle or Plato or Socrates are mentioned. Consider St. Basil the Great's HEXEMERON on the six days of creation. I do not remember him quoting Aristotle even to point out that Aristotle was wrong. I should bring up an on-line copy of the Summa and search on Aristotle. Perhaps I am exaggerating. It is also very important to realize that in all of Eastern Orthodox history (to my knowledge) there is not a single "ontological" proof of God's existence but in the West one sees Anselm and other attempting such a proof. ----- Oh, and Aquinas was not Greek obviously, but being Greek was not the motive for referring to Aristotle.
