Things bother different people to a different degree

Someone spent months training a lab rat to push levers and get rewards. At the end of the course they had the choice of keeping the rat as a pet or sending the rat to a snake farm as fodder. They chose the snake pit and the laugh about it as an amusing story. They swear it is true. I have cherished every living creature I have ever cared for. I even kept 3 worms alive for 2 weeks that I found on some parsley leaves. I would have let the rat go in the woods and at least give it a day of freedom, a chance.  Different people see things in different ways. One of my old bosses (worked for him for 5 years) got a call from a parole board... an employee who had stolen something from him and gone to jail wanted some clemency... he said no and then hung up the phone and gloated over the whole business. I watched him press the envelope of legality in business dealing way beyond the limit and legally swindle people.  Someone I know claims they cannot understand why parents and children are forbidden to marry, or siblings. I explained that if you have to ask the question about such things then you will most likely not understand the answer.
