Pride and Answered Prayers
I realized something today about answered prayers, namely, that if someone felt that God often answered their prayers then that would lead to pride and pride is the source of all other sins. One female radio minister one day, on her broadcast, mentioned that every time she prays to God to stop the rain he answers her prayer but on ONE occasion she prayed and God explained to her that for some certain reason (which He could not tell her) he could not answer her prayer today and stop the rain but He didnt want her to feel bad. As I listened I thought the woman a lunatic and anyone who takes her seriously to be a lunatic. Not even the Pope has the unmitigated gall and audacity to make such a claim and people dislike the Pope for the doctrine of infallibility. Note that in St. John Climacus' Ladder of Divine Ascent there are spiritual strugglers (monks) falling off the ladder because of pride. There is a Buddhist saying that "even the desire for moksha (liberation/nirvana) can be an impediment to moksha."
