Why list every job ever held on a resume?
Why would one be so foolish and naive as to assume that everyone's circumstances are the same? And yet if you feel confident that such a resume is inappropriate then obviously you would not feel the need to solicit the opinion of others. I have known many people who worked at one job for a number of years. If you are interviewing people then the resume is simply a tool and not the most important tool. I have personally seen a number of resumes and job references which are gross exaggerations and in some cases fabrications. There is no substitute for a personal interview. No offense. These are simply my reactions as I browse posts while drinking my morning coffee. You did ask WHY someone might do that. Honesty perhaps? Most of the people I have encountered in my life are masters of B.S. (and I don't mean Bachelor of Science) so honesty and candor is something alien. All the scandal we see among people of wealth and power seem to confirm that notion.
